Manager or Master

Manager or Master

The Bible offers a radically different perspective on money than our culture's get-rich-quick mentality. The key paradigm shift is understanding that you are the manager of your money, not the master. God owns everything, and we are responsible for stewarding His resources according to biblical principles. This includes avoiding unnecessary debt, saving for the future, practicing generous giving, and investing wisely. When we truly embrace our role as managers rather than masters, our questions and behaviors around money naturally change. Instead of asking what we want to spend money on, we ask how we can use it to honor God and benefit His kingdom.

Money is fundamentally a spiritual matter, not just a financial one. The Bible teaches that the love of money can lead us away from faith and that we cannot serve both God and money. Everything we possess actually belongs to God, making us stewards rather than owners of our resources. Our spending habits reveal the true condition of our hearts and what we worship. When we recognize Jesus as Lord over our finances and surrender our resources to His authority, we position ourselves to experience His provision and blessing in supernatural ways.

Why do We Worship?

True worship isn't dependent on our circumstances or feelings, but on God's worthiness. Paul and Silas demonstrated this when they chose to worship while imprisoned, leading to a miraculous earthquake and the salvation of their jailer's entire family. We worship because God is worthy, because we trust His plan even when we don't understand it, and because He remains good regardless of our situation. This kind of sacrificial worship becomes a powerful witness to others who are watching how we respond to life's challenges.
